You Can Buy A Car

From A Giant Vending Machine

May 17, 2017

Autobahn Motors in Singapore just christened its new home, a 15-floor, 60-space showroom that doubles as a vehicular vending machine. The group sells high-end vehicles covering the luxury, sports and exotic segments.

Using a touchscreen on the ground floor, a buyer can select a car and have it appear in front of them in as little as two minutes. It might be a novel solution to storing a bunch of cars in a tight area, but when it comes down to it, it's just a giant vending machine. And that's pretty awesome. At the very least, there's nothing else like it in the world.

The Jaguar E-Type Reborn

April 18, 2017

One of the most recognizable British cars of all time, any Jaguar E-Type still draws plenty of looks wherever it goes. The time to get in on the E-Type affordably passed some time ago, but Jaguar now plans to "resurrect" the model with the E-Type

Reborn program: Jaguar will find a handful of E-Types and bring them back to the factory for a complete restoration according to original factory specs.

This Jaguar Classic program kicks off this spring with a pilot batch of 10 cars. The factory will keep as many of the vehicles' parts as possible and manufacture reverse-engineered body panels as needed for the vehicles that it plans to restore, using original parts throughout.

E-Type Reborn will follow a similar restoration program launched earlier by sister marque Land Rover for its Land Rover Series I and Range Rover Classic models. The E-Types that Jaguar Classic restores will be offered to regular customers after the launch of the program at Techno Classic Essen this April, giving Jaguar enthusiasts the opportunity to purchase an original E-Type as it would have left the factory more than 50 years ago.

Audi To Buy Luxury Car-Rental Startup Silvercar

April 03, 2017

Audi plans to buy a U.S. startup that rents out silver A4 cars in a bid to boost digital revenue as the industry shifts away from outright car ownership.

Silvercar's app allows users to book the compact sedans at 15 locations across the U.S., including upscale hotels in Brooklyn and South Beach.

The acquisition will help Audi to expand its technology offerings in the country, the automaker said in a statement Thursday, 30 March.

Audi will seek to grow the partnership beyond Silvercar' core business.

Tips On Keeping Your Car Running Like New

December 2016

What makes the difference between a car that no longer works after 100,000 miles, versus one that makes it beyond 300,000? Well, there’s a number of things that go into car maintenance.

1. Keep Those Fluids In Check

Engine oil, brake oil, engine coolant, transmission oil.

2. Buy Good Quality Parts

When you’re changing the oil, opt for higher quality synthetic oil.

3. Develop Good Practices

When you first start your engine in the morning, it’s a good idea to leave it running for around 30 seconds, before driving off.

4. Take Care Of The Exterior

It may seem to you that cleaning and waxing your car is a purely aesthetic exercise, but the truth is that you’ll also be helping keep the body in shape.

5. Drive Smart

Starting slow and braking gently may seem like a no-brainer, but they do more than save you money on gas.   If you constantly slam on the pedals, you’re just adding to that and increasing the wear and tear, taking years off your vehicle’s life.  It’s never a bad idea to just slow down a little and treat your car with kindness.

Best New Car Features For 2017

Here’s a quick look at the most novel new-car features we’ll be seeing on 2017 cars and trucks.

Video Screens

The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica minivans UConnect Theater rear entertainment system not only features dual 10-inch seatback-mounted touchscreen monitors, with wireless connectivity for streaming content from smartphones, but it further includes an assortment of built-in apps and games.

Curved Seats

The new QX30 luxury crossover SUV includes so-called “spinal support” front seats that are designed to match the curvature of the spine to reduce pressure on back muscles and minimize a motorist’s fatigue on longer commutes and road trips.

Go Keyless

Push-button keyless entry is a welcome convenience, but it requires carrying a bulky proximity key in a pocket or backpack. Available with the 2017 Jaguar F-Pace luxury SUV is a new Activity Key that incorporates the electronic key chip into a wearable wristband that’s waterproof, ultra-durable and less likely to be lost or misplaced.

Safety First

Volvo’s latest twist on lane departure warning technology helps to prevent the vehicle from running off the road because of driver error or inclement weather.

The Cheapest Car In The U.S. For 2017

According to Cars.com, the numbers have concluded that the Nissan Versa Sedan is the cheapest new car you can buy for 2017. Again. The Nissan Versa sedan’s $12,825 starting price carries over unchanged.

The 2017 Versa is on sale now. The base price gets you a base S sedan with a five-speed manual transmission, air conditioning, power mirrors and a four-speaker stereo with steering-wheel audio controls and Bluetooth phone connectivity.

The New Car Models That Will Be Huge In 2017

With nearly every company offering autonomous emergency braking in more models, as well as new electric and hybrid entries. Automakers definitely are emphasizing luxury and performance, though, with new models.

2017 Honda Civic Hatchback

Pricing hasn’t been announced but should start close to the $19,475 starting price of the Civic Sedan. The car is based on Honda’s 10th-generation Civic platform and will be sold in the United States. The engine is the turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-4 already found in the Civic Sedan and Civic Coupe. It will deliver 174 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque in LX, EX and EX-L trim, and 180 hp and 162 lb-ft in Sport and Sport Touring trim.

2017 Jaguar F-Pace

Starting at $55,300 for the higher end R-Sport trim and checking out at just under $70,000 with all the options, the F-Pace price is as impressive as the excellent package. Inspired by the F-Type sports coupe, the F-Pace has a sculpted hood on a long nose that flows from the grille down the doors and into the tail. It is an inch or so taller than those crossover coupe things, but shorter than most normal crossovers, suggesting it might be cramped on the inside.

2017 Nissan Sentra SR Turbo

The Sentra, which is the brand’s third-best-seller in the U.S. market, welcomes the new SR Turbo trim equipped with a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder gasoline turbo engine that delivers 188 horsepower and 177 lb.-ft. of torque. An optional 6-speed manual is available beyond the standard fuel-efficient Xtronic continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Mercedes-AMG C63 S Coupe

Starting at $75,000, the Coupe is distinct from its four-door brother—and is superior by almost every measure. It comes with larger front brake rotors, dynamic engine mounts, and an electronically controlled limited-slip differential. It also has a fifth setting, Race, on the rotary dial that selects drive modes.
